Palais des Festivals et des Congrès: From Red Carpet Legends to AI Royalty at The World AI Cannes Festival (WAICF)

For decades, the legendary Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes has been synonymous with glamour, prestige, and cinematic history. The iconic red carpet—immortalized each year during the Cannes Film Festival—has welcomed the world’s most celebrated actors, directors, supermodels, and global tastemakers. Flashing cameras, couture gowns, standing ovations—this palace has long been the cathedral of cinema and celebrity culture.

But on February 12–13, 2026, history took a futuristic turn.

Instead of film stars ascending the famous steps, humanoid robots and AI pioneers became the new headliners. The World AI Cannes Festival (WAICF) 2026 transformed the Palais into a global stage for artificial intelligence, robotics, and next-generation innovation.

A Prestigious Opening Under High Patronage

The World AI Cannes Festival 2026 was inaugurated on February 12 in the presence of Anne Le Hénanff, Minister Delegate for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology. The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of the Institut EuropIA and visionary tech leader Marco Landi, former Apple executive and President of EuropIA.

Their presence signaled a powerful message: AI is no longer the future—it is the present shaping global society.

Throughout the festival, the Palais pulsed with intellectual energy as leading professionals in technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, healthcare, finance, and creative industries gathered from across the globe.

A Global Tech Gathering

WAICF 2026 attracted top communities and professionals representing major global corporations and institutions, including: Microsoft, Mozilla, LinkedIn, Walmart, Meta, Tesla, TikTok, AstraZeneca, Netflix, Samsung, Siemens, PoliCloud, German Aerospace, Mercedes-Benz, IBM, AirBus, Nestlé and others.

In addition, institutions from Germany and across Europe were strongly represented, demonstrating the international scale and influence of the festival.

A special highlight was the visit of David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes, who toured exhibitions and attended discussions, emphasizing the city’s commitment to innovation alongside its cinematic heritage.

The atmosphere blended Riviera elegance with Silicon Valley innovation.

Cannes: Where Cinema Meets Artificial Intelligence

The transformation of the Palais des Festivals from a sanctuary of film stars to a global arena for artificial intelligence marks a symbolic shift. Cannes remains a beacon of glamour—but today, innovation walks the red carpet alongside fame.

At WAICF 2026, the new celebrities were algorithms, humanoids, and the brilliant minds building tomorrow’s world.

In Cannes, the spotlight still shines brightly. Only now, it shines on the future.
